The Hungry Owl Project
For information about owls and the preservation of owls, the Hungry Owl Project is a great resource.
The Hungry Owl Project began with manufacturing and erecting owl boxes. They install boxes in residential areas, ranches, farms, schools, parks, open space, golf courses, and of course vineyards - anywhere gophers and other rodents are a problem. These owl boxes eliminate the necessity for rodenticides, because the owls naturally eat the rodents and rid the area of the problem. These owl boxes help protect the surrounding environment from the effects of rodenticide poisoning within an ecosystem. Since then, they have expanded to include other programs including an education program for schools and communities. They also have a rescue program to help reunite and foster raptors in the community.
